Digital video footage was recorded using a Sony DCR HC22E PAL palmcorder. Very regular cleaning of the palmcorder and lens is necessary in the desert. Sand gets everywhere and it is especially important to have the palmcorder as clean as possible when changing the tapes, to prevent dust getting inside. A 12V inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter of the trucks provided 240V ac for charging. Wind noise was a problem with the sound track. A foam cap over the microphone helps to minimise this.
